Autism – when the connection between the ego-centred part of the psyche with the wider Self is obstructed

… and therefore the instinct of human bonding and its corresponding feeling and its energy-charge cannot be fully expressed.

Expanding insight into autism by setting this relatively modern phenomenon against a psychological background that includes the activity of innate creative nature.

Autistic functioning points to a partial obstruction within the psyche hindering the assimilation and processing of a specific type of content that (the pre-conscious part of) the psyche tries to unfold and develop within itself. Content, that consists of the instinctual or archetypal forms that make full psychic unfolding, and thereby  full feeling expression and experience in the course of life possible. In autism, in particular, this concerns the archetypal form that underpins full human bonding and relating to others by feeling.

The psychological phenotype (the image of the syndrome, causes of its symptoms, and specific anomalies) of autism becomes more understandable in light of the difficulty in the ‘set up’ of this instinct and its archetypes. It shows that the psyche already in its earliest stages of development cannot bear the feeling aspect (specific feeling tones with a high energy charge) that comes with the set-up of this instinct and is forced to develop strategies to keep this from happening. Therefore, autism has a pre-natal cause and beginning.

The process of avoiding specific content relating to human bonding instinct to enter (to unfold within) the psyche shows later on more clearly in the more conscious strategies and tactics to deal with it. One can observe then directly the corrupted communication between the developed conscious (the physical-objective and conscious aspect of the) psyche and its (subjective-archetypal) unconscious part.

The nuclear cause of this tragedy points to a corrupted physiological base of feeling-processing and -regulation that is needed for the set-up of this archetype of human bonding

This likely causation of autism (supported by many observations as we’ll see further down) can be a point of departure for further exploration into attaining a clear picture of this syndrome and may yield better management of debilitating or undesirable psychological and physical aspects of autism.

It even after establishing a clear causation of the syndrome, may provide us with a way of prevention. The physical aspect of it will likely lead us in the future into the realm of epigenomics and the psychological factor into enquiring (by paying attention to, and developing and maintaining ) a correct and broader feeling-relation to others and reality.

It will mean (as is required in the individuation-process) allowing full feeling expression. And certainly not to surrender oneself to a too a one-sided masculine rational approach to make sense of reality and make order into one’s world. This forces to loss of soul and by that a detachment of our deeper instinctual layers, a phenomenon that of is very observable these days in the modern human (in search of a soul and seeking compensation for this loss and consequent emptiness). One cannot make the world into abstraction, that is living mechanically void of feeling like a robot. The most powerful instinct that humans are subject to is the instinctual urge to individuate-it works consciously and unconsciously in all facets of their lives…..
